About the Role

The Health Care Analyst will focus on analysing health and care data to improve public health outcomes, support policy-making, and enhance the efficiency of healthcare services.

The role involves working with large datasets, collaborating with government bodies, and ensuring compliance with public health regulations.

This is a fixed term (3 year) apprenticeship post which will providesupport to a range of public health programmes, with six hours per week spent participating in formal learning.

The Health & Care Intelligence Specialist Level 7 apprenticeship is a developmental route for job roles within the core Public Health workforce that enables the apprentice, on successful completion, to achieve a Masters-level qualification.

The apprenticeship is for junior professionals who study the health of populations, plan, commission, manage, deliver, monitor and evaluate health and social care polices and services.The apprenticeship supports the career progression of analysts into a position to be able to lead and oversee analyst teams.

As a Health and Care Intelligence Specialist apprentice, you will be responsible for analysing, evaluating, and interpreting data from a range of sources, to inform the development of public health programmes, statutory reports and publications.

Your main role will be evaluating current areas of concern for Oxfordshire and becoming the specialist in using local population health management databases and a range of national databases and data sources, for example Hospital Episode Statistics data (HES NHS).

The role will require a comprehensive understanding of health data and data sources to be able to provide health intelligence advice to other members of the Public Health team, wider colleagues within the Council, and partner agencies (NHS, district councils, voluntary section organisations).

You will alsolead on in-depth analytical projects tosupport others within the Public Health team.You will beresponsive to ad-hoc requests such assupporting theresponse to relevant Freedom of Information requests.

The successful candidate will be able to apply a range of statistical techniques for the analysis of data, using Microsoft Office and other software packages required for data analysis and presentation. You will also be able to compile data reports and communicate findings to a range of audiences.

The postholder willsupport system partners to ensure the population’s health needs are identified and met.Applicants should demonstrate the ability to work with professionals from a variety of council directorates and partner organisations.Using your knowledge of public health datasets, you will be able to provide balanced advice and guidance to seniordecision makers in a political setting.

If you have experience working with public health or related data, can demonstrate the key capabilities and would like to develop your public health knowledge and experience, this could be the ideal opportunity for you.We are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive individual with excellent organisational and communication skills and with the ability to work under pressure.

The successful candidate will have:

• Ability to work with databases and information systems.

• Ability to interpret data and present information to a wide range of audiences.

• Ability to deliver targets and deadlines

• Strong understanding of public health data and regulatory requirements.

Experience of working with Public Health and NHS commissioners, GPs and the voluntary sector is desirable.
